Several months ago I saw the above pair of hot pink shoes, and I was disappointed when I realized that they were sold out. As the months went by I kept wishing that they were part of my wardrobe, so I decided to make my own. I gave an inexpensive [...]
Lately I’ve been seeing a softer, gentler stud, paired with bright candy colors for spring. For a refined look, you could add gold pyramid studs or smaller, rounded studs to a pastel-colored purse or pair of shoes. Combined with the Easter-egg colors, studs take on an unexpected elegance, don’t you think?
For awhile now I’ve been coveting pretty scalloped brim hats like this one, so when I found a suitable surgery victim on clearance the other day I decided to get scissor-happy.

If you want a foldover leather clutch you could buy this unlined one for $150. You could also buy one of the many available on Etsy. Or you could easily make your own. Mine is made with leather from a mini-skirt I bought at one of my favorite San Francisco thrift stores [...]

When I put on these socks, my feet felt like they had died and gone to heaven. No kidding. And don’t your feet deserve to be at least a little bit pampered? With the dicey shoes I wear and the amount of walking I do, mine certainly do. I’m sure you can come up with [...]
As rain drizzled outside my window, I sat sewing these butter-yellow scalloped shorts that just scream “Spring” and wondered when I’ll have a chance to wear them. Soon, I hope, because they’ve been on my mind ever since I saw Chloe Sevigny going wild for Chloe scallops earlier this year.

This is another one of those projects that I saw on the Urban Outfitters website (here), and immediately thought to myself, “Damn, I could make that!” Last week I was looking forward to making it, but just couldn’t fit it in my schedule until today. Sometimes when I can’t immediately make something that’s [...]
Remember this dress? Here it is, out for a spin in my (very windy) neighborhood park. Despite the breeze, it’s a nice change from the usual rooftop locale. Steven took these photos for me before an evening of grocery shopping followed by dinner at Little Star Pizza with friends. There’s always [...]
