While we were in Florida we hit up a few thrift shops with Steven’s mom. From previous trips I remembered them as being pretty good, but either my tastes have changed or I was unlucky, but out of four or five stores the only thing I bought was a couple of paperbacks for the plane ride. Upon my return to San Francisco, however, my thrift lust unslated, I went to the Mission Thrift Town for the first time in at least a month. Maybe it was because everyone else was busy doing last minute Christmas shopping, but I managed to find some excellent stuff.
First up are these classic Converse. In the past I’ve wanted a pair of Converse, but whenever I tried them on in stores they looked too white and pristine, and I always walked away without making the purchase. When I saw these in my size for $3.99, I knew they were perfect. Worn in but not worn out, with plenty of life left. They didn’t come with laces so the new ones look super bright, but they’ll get dirtied up after a few wears. I’m trying to decide whether to leave them as is or indulge in some sneaker modification.
Coincidentally, the day after I bought that top I came across this Stella McCartney dress. The way the points of lace came together at the chest is very similar, though otherwise they’re nothing alike.
Last but not least, a Free People dress that does not actually fit me right in the chest. I bought it for the lovely colorful bottom half, which I’ve already freed from the sweater boob holders and made into a great skirt. Pictures soon!
Happy thrifting! Have you found anything that made your heart beat faster lately?
